Example

40 ft long wall, 8 ft high, 8 inches thick → 7. 90 cubic yards
25 ft retaining wall, 6 ft high, 12 inches thick → 5. 56 cubic yards

Formula

Volume (cu ft) = Length × Height × Thickness

Convert to cubic yards by dividing by 27. Always add 8–12% for waste and overpour.

For retaining walls add footing volume separately

Next Step

System note: validate this estimate against local code and supplier requirements before ordering.

FAQ

Should I include the footing in the calculation?

Yes — footings are usually poured with the wall. Add their volume separately.

How much waste should I order?

8–12% extra is standard for walls due to form leakage and uneven pour.
